Opportunity Awaits
We’re excited to finally have the opportunity to meet again in person for this year’s Annual PALMCOP Conference! This year, we’re exploring different opportunities for our institutions to learn from the past, hear about current practices, and plan for the future through potential funding sources.
10:00 AM Welcome
10:15 AM-11 AM
Leah Worthington: Grants Writing in the Lowcountry: Tips for Success
Let’s talk grant writing! We will discuss grant planning and writing basics and tips. We’ll also talk about local, regional, and national granting agencies to consider for your grant needs. After writing successful grants (and an unsuccessful grant), I’ll share lessons learned—successes and pitfalls—that can help attendees in their grant writing endeavors. I’ll also share how I have been able to consult with and assist small-institution regional partners in their grant-writing process for grants they were awarded.
11:00 AM-11:45 AM
Panel Discussion: COVID & Virtual Programs - How We’ve Adapted
The pandemic forced organizations to reevaluate how they could reach audiences in new ways. In this discussion, we’ll hear from different institutions about how they adjusted, what worked, and what didn’t.
11:45 AM-1:00 PM-Lunch Break
1:00 PM-1:45 PM
Jim Pyatt: GOING THROUGH CHANGE (AND LIVING TO TELL ABOUT IT!)
During the last five years the Archives of the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church has experienced a move, a change in Archivist, a pandemic, and is now in the midst of a denominational schism. At the same time our visibility and our volume of research requests have increased, not to mention the workload for the limited staff. In this presentation I will address some of the ways in which we have dealt with the challenges, and are seeking to build upon them for the future.
1:45 PM-2:30 PM
Robyn Adams-South Carolina State Museum Digitization Project
In 2018 the South Carolina State Museum bought a new collections management system and embarked on an effort to inventory the entire collection and digitize it at the same time. Four years into the project, hear from registrar Robyn Adams as she shares the work flow and tools used by the State Museum, and how the Institute of Museum and Library Services has generously helped with funding along the way.
2:30 PM-3:15 PM
Andre Taylor, Oral Historian
This virtual presentation will feature work done by Andre Taylor, Oral Historian for William & Mary Libraries.
